Nestled among two mountain ridges; the Blue Mountains to the north and South Mountain to the south lies the Lehigh Valley, the third most populous metropolitan area in Pennsylvania. It is part of the Great Appalachian Valley and formed by the beautiful, Lehigh River ; a name which was given by the Lenni-Lenape Indian tribe who hunted and fished the land prior to the German immigrants who settled in the Lehigh Valley in the first half of he 1700's.  The Lehigh Valley is 40 miles long and 20 miles wide.

The Lehigh Valley is home to Musikfest, the nations largest music festival which draws thousands of visitors every summer.  Crayola, Just Born,  Air Products,  Amazon,  Mack Trucks,  ArtsQuest are just some of many companies located in the Lehigh Valley.

Each year numerous farmers markets can be found within the Lehigh Valley featuring produce from our local farms.  It's also home to many colleges and Universities, wineries, breweries, restaurants,  cafes and coffee shops as well as the historic Hotel Bethlehem located in downtown Bethlehem.  Downtown Bethlehem, otherwise known as "Christmas City" is a charming city which has been featured on the Halmark Channel.  At Christmas-time, horse and carriages can be seen  up and down Main Street.  We also have numerous films that have been produced in the Lehigh Valley.

Lehigh Valley has three main cities - Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton.  Within a short drive, you can ski and hike the beautiful Pocono Mountains and within a short time travel to the New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland beaches.  Many also commute back and fourth to New York daily which is approximately 2 hours to our west.

The Lehigh Valley is also home to three minor leagues sports teams;  the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, The Lehigh Valley Legends, and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in addition to many high school and college level teams.

ABOUT LEHIG VALLE
ABOUT WGOLV

ABOUT WGOLV

My name is LoriLee and I'm the owner, journalist/reporter/promoter for What's going on in the Lehigh Valley.  I'm also a mom of four that I adore.

In 2011,  I started WGOLV as a hobby for my friends and it grew from there.  Now with over 67k on Facebook and increasing daily, it's grown into a very popular publication.  It reaches anywhere from 1-2 million monthly on facebook alone.

I love the outdoors, my family and my fur baby, Ginger.  I enjoy weight training, nature, wildlife, music, nature, photography, dancing, fairs and taking my kids to the beach. On the side I am a personal trainer and  promotional model.  I also have been in numerous films and commercials.

My furbaby, Ginger ❤️

I've been very involved with the music community for years as a promoter (booked bands at various venues) and love music.  I have been classically trained as a vocalist and started playing piano at 7 . I attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and have my degree is in Elementary Education.

As part of student teaching in college, I  had the opportunity to live and teach on the Hopi  reservation in Keams Canyon, Arizona.  It will always be one of my fondest memories.  I spent my weekends in an adobe home high on top of a mesa in the village of Walpi and attended ceremonies in an underground kiva.

Before WGOLV, I started my own organic baby boutique and sold products all over the world for 10 years while raising my little ones.  I also had a small shop in Dorneyville where I taught classes.  I created my own organic product line and had things manufactured in various parts of the country.  The moses baskets were made out of natural/organic wood which I sourced from a renewable forest and had shipped via flat bed to the Amish where they soaked it and wove it into beautiful baskets.

I've always loved helping others, volunteering whenever possible, helping with benefit events and of course being a mom - that's been the biggest blessing in my life.  My youngest is a football player and I love watching football and attending the games.

As WGOLV has grown, I've been working on developing a team.  I have a few interns and always looking to add more.  I'm also looking for additional writers, photographers, videographers and those who enjoy public relations and marketing/sales.
