According to Alburtis Borough Police Department, there have been 19 incidents (train collision with car, disabled vehicle on tracks) at the West Penn Train Crossing between 2013 and 2020.. There were nine in the last year alone.
According to the Federal Railway Administration, this is the 12th most dangerous crossing in the state.
Police warn to please be vigilant and use caution at this crossing. If you would happen to become disabled on the tracks, they ask that you call the number on the blue and white sign BEFORE you call 911. This allows the train company more time to stop any trains in the area.
