Alternative Gallery working to save thousands of culturally significant 16mm film prints

The Alternative Gallery is working to save thousands of culturally significant 16mm film prints before they're destroyed by the Summer heat!

Over 6,000 cultural & documentary films are currently being stored in several tractor trailers by a collector who cannot move them to better conditions.

Film prints are meant to be stored under 70 degrees with low humidity, but the Summer heat will see temperatures hit 100+ degrees in the trailers, destroying the physical film and making them unplayable!

Fundraising Goal

Their goal is to raise at least $7,000 to pay for the purchase of 2,000 of the most important films in the collection and move them to our archives.

If they reach their initial goal they can open up Flex Funding to save even more of the films!

The films are located about an hour from the gallery and they must pay to rent vehicles to move them, as well as purchase film racks to properly store the films.

There are a variety of funding options and ways to support!

They are running this campaign for only TWO WEEKS so that we may get the funds together quickly enough to move the films before the start of Summer.
