DCNR reminds anglers they can play a critical role in slowing the spread of invasive species

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) reminds anglers that they can play a critical role in slowing the spread of invasive species by following some basic tips.

Invasive species are taking over rivers, lakes, and other natural areas throughout Pennsylvania, making fishing and boating difficult and damaging valuable habitat.

  • Know how to identify invasive plants, so you can avoid walking and fishing near them.

  • Clean off plants and mud from gear and equipment before leaving the site.

  • Drain water from boats and bait containers before leaving water access.

  • Wash boats and dry them completely before going to a new water body.
