According to the National Weather Service, dangerous excessive heat is expected Thursday and Friday, with maximum heat index values expected to exceed 100 degrees for much of the region.
Please avoid strenuous outdoor activity, especially during the hottest part of the day.
Drink plenty of water and wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing.
Hot and humid conditions are expected to last through Saturday, but by Sunday, it appears there will be some relief.
Scattered thunderstorms are forecast for today (Thursday), primarily during the mid afternoon through late evening. Some of these thunderstorms could be severe. The primary threat is damaging wind gusts to 60-70 mph.
