Announcement from Ricketts Glen State park on trails as of March 25, ,2023 :
The lower portion of the Falls Trail is now open for regular hiking. 3 Falls are visible on this out and back hike from Route 118 to Waters Meet.
Everything above waters meet is still under winter regulations, and there is significant ice even after the recent warmth. Only experienced ice climbers and hikers who sign in/out with the office and have the minimum required equipment are permitted into the trail system. Minimum required equipment: Crampons (not micro spikes), ice axe, and rope.
The Glen Leigh side of the Falls Trail between F.L. Ricketts Falls and Ozone Falls remains CLOSED TO ALL HIKERS, including those who have registered with the proper equipment due to the hazardous rock ledge collapse that the park is working on remediating. This means that for registered hikers a full loop of the system is not currently possible, you will need to backtrack your route.
