Irish singer-songwriter, Sinead O'Connor has passed away at age 56.


Sinead O'Connor was born on December 8, 1966. She started her journey in the music industry during the 1980s singing on the streets of Dublin and in 1990, she launched her second album titled "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got," which included her rendition of the song "Nothing Compares 2 U" originally written by Prince.


O'Connor's version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" became a worldwide hit and was nominated for Record of the Year at the Grammys. " The music video was viewed nearly 400 million times on YouTube. Overall, she put out a total of 10 studio albums.


Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar acknowledged O'Connor's death, declaring, "Really sorry to hear of the passing of Sinead O'Connor. Her music was loved around the world and her talent was unmatched and beyond compare. Condolences to her family, her friends and all who loved her music."


In 2017, O'Connor changed her name to Magda Davitt, and then again to Shuhada' Sadaqat in 2018. She was married four times and had four children. Tragically, her son Shane passed away in 2022.
